Growing up, Ashish R. Pareek didn’t have access to the best resources or opportunities. A student at a state-board school in Bengaluru, he learned early on that if you wanted to get somewhere, you had to find your own way. While pursuing a civil engineering degree at SJB Institute of Technology, he was already chasing a different dream. His days were spent in classrooms; his nights were spent working gruelling graveyard shifts at YTV, a regional television station, learning the ropes of broadcasting from the ground up.
Refusing to wait for an invitation into a closed-door industry, he built and streamed from his own scrappy, now-defunct YouTube channel, dissecting stories until the sheer quality of his work broke through. That relentless hustle caught national eyes, earning him an interview and his first breakthrough in Indian broadcast news industry.
